BOLD WILL HOLD

A month or so ago I had
the opportunity to see this tattoo on an ex army ranger. It was done by a tattooer named Capt. Jack Coolidge in New Jersey 32 years ago. It just cemented in my mind that a good tattoo is bold , simple, clean, and can stand the test of time. I try everyday to stick to this ideal and not do micro tattoos that won't last even a few years. Recently I've been very fortunate to be able to do alot of fun tattoos that I hope will be just as cool 32 years from now.

ART SHOWS

I've been running around like crazy with tattoos and paintings not to mention the day to day life of father of soon to be 4 boys. I love painting and these art shows gave me a chance to give back doing just that. If you are in the area of either show please swing by and show support for a good cause.

http://austinartforanimals.com/ is the website and on september 10th you will be able to buy the paintings me and several artists from around the world did to help save animals. here is their info :
On Friday, September 9th, Affinity is holding its first Art For Animals benefit for the no kill animal shelter, “Austin Pets Alive!”. Hundreds of tattooers from around the world are donating paintings to be auctioned off at www.austinartforanimals.com (under construction). All proceeds will be donated to APA! and will be used to buy pet supplies and help keep dogs and cats off of other shelters’ euthanasia lists.

The opening party is taking place at Red7 (611 E 7th St) September 9th at 8pm. There will be friendly people, door prizes, food (courtesy of The Vegan Yacht), and plenty of artwork for your viewing / purchasing pleasure. Online bidding ends October 9th when the paintings are shipped to the winning bidders.

Also tonight is the jinx proof charity art show . I also have two paintings in this show and this is their info:
Hey Everyone, We at Jinx Proof Tattoo will be hosting a charity art show/auction on Friday September 9th, 2011. The purpose of the show is to celebrate the lives of those lost in the attacks of 9/11. All money raised through the sale of art is going to be donated towww.FriendsofSeanLugano.com. Sean was the cousin of our friend and fellow tattooer, J.R. Maloney of Vanguard Tattoo in Nyack, NY. Sean died at the World Trade Center and this website was formed to help various foundations that represent Sean's passion for life, health, sports, and friendship.

Life as we know it

It's been a very busy couple of months and I've been so busy with life I haven't had much time to share whats been going on. Face book only allows a small amount of text so this would have been 18 posts so I decided to post in my  blog instead. Well first I asked my girlfriend Michelle McCain to marry me and a few days later I got a note on my appartment door letting me know they wanted to rape me to live there so instead I bought a 3 bedroom 2 bath house in pflugerville close to the shop with a huge backyard. Midway thru buying the house we found out I was expecting my fourth child(please be a girl, please be a girl). This will be Michelles first child . We have spent weeks fixing up the house and moving in. The boys love their romms and Michelle loves the master bathroom. Right as we were about to finish all the moving last week my ex , Tina, noticed our youngest son was constantly thirsty and was grumpy when normally he's the sweetest child ever. Thank God she has a lot of medical knowledge and took him to see his dr. Nyjah was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and will need 5 or more insulin shots a day as well as a strict diet and schedule the rest of his life. Diabetes is a very manageable disease and with Michelle, Tina

a true master

Gil Elvgren was a true master. He was the king of pin up paintings and illustration. The kinda detail and time that went into each painting is mind blowing. I feel lucky every time someone requests one especially in black and gray.

For Luke

Last month I lost my close friend . Luke Ceballos was an inspiration and a great friend. Luke always pushed for me to do more side projects and art. Stereo Skateboards, Loser Machine skateboards, Gnarbro, Volcom, and others have allowed me the chance to help cope with the loss by working on art to help his family and remember him. Please remember to support these companies. Luke, these ones are for you.
